The Life Center 2014

What an exciting last few weeks. The first few weeks have been fairly hectic celebrating both Christmas and New Years here in the villages. We have officially opened The Life Center for anybody who would like to attend from in and around the Galaya District of Chiang Mai Province. Every year we are pleasantly surprised by the students who come to attend. Our most recent student Gidisak arrived yesterday evening. This year our group of 7 students are all men, most coming from within 3 miles of the centers location. Two students Gidisak and Chai come from villages hours away from the center. Almost all of the students this year are recovering from a range of addictions, but have hit rock bottom in their lives. It’s when we are at our end that we are most vulnerable and ready to experience repentance and a new life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

In the book of Jeremiah we see an awesome picture of God’s ability to make something beautiful out of nothing. Verse 18:1-6 says, “This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message. So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the LORD came to me: O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does? declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.”

It’s so exciting to watch these young men see how valuable they really are in the eyes of God. It is empowering to knowing that God desires to use us in a way that honors us and glorifies Him who created us. As students enter the new year they are growing more and more every day. Living together is never easy, its not convenient and it takes work. That’s the joy of truly loving your neighbors. It’s hard to believe that the temperature at night is so cold 40 degrees! with no insulation and heat is really cold! but we are thankful for the time that we have to spend together, 4 months will go by very fast!

Keep us in your prayers and a happy New Year to you all!
